Welcome to the Community

Today, my friends welcomed a son into their lives.  And the world welcomed new parents and a family.  I received the message and precious photo via text from the hospital. Friendship – a word that expresses the power of community.

“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Khalil Gibran

Breaking out…

“The shell must break before the bird can fly.” Alfred Tennyson

Birds break shells so they can fly.  My question – do birds know they will be able to fly BEFORE they break the shell?  Or does it come as a surprise?

It seems that humanity is better at building shells than breaking them.  Maybe that’s why we can’t fly…

A Different Drummer

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”

 Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
