Happy Mother’s Day – 2012!

Mother’s Day comes but once a year and yet it inspires us for the remaining 364 days. Everyone has a unique Mother’s Day story that belongs only to them. These are the narratives that we keep for ourselves, locked safely away in our hearts until the moment when we require extra grace or courage. That is when memory gives back full measure. A smile, touch or word, gently recalled has a sustaining endurance. Happy Mother’s Day!  Welcome to a new year of building memories.

  1. What a beautiful essay, though brief. Thank you for being you and all that you bring to my and other’s lives. Thank you for the Mother’s Day Meal that I enjoyed so much. I also enjoyed Mothers’ Day luncheon with Sarah and her family. I also had texts from my family in St. Albert and will chat with them later. I am so blest. You write so well. Keep it up!

    1. Thank you!! At the end of every mother’s day, I am reminded of a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “There never was a child so lovely but his mother was glad to get him asleep.”

  2. Mr. Emerson’s comment is quite correct. I remember the unique and wonderful feeling I had when my children fell asleep on my shoulder and how beautiful they were when asleep in their beds.. I felt a sense of peace that they were safe there. That was not the meaning of his phrase, however!
