The Untravelled World

“I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades For ever and for ever when I move.”  Ulysses – Alfred, Lord Tennyson

I first met Alfred, Lord Tennyson when I was in grade 11, long after his passage through this world. The Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom during Queen Victoria’s reign still has the power to awaken the imagination of a generation born a century later. My whole life has been in search of archways that open portals to journeys yet to be explored. And age does not impede the effort.

“Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.” Ulysses – Alfred, Lord Tennyson
