A Morning Thought

Memo to self:  Wake up thankful.

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

  1. “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.” – Groucho Marx

It is common for my journey to work to take me on a beautiful train ride along the east coast of Scotland, and then into the North East of England, where I can look out over the sea across to the rising sun. No two days are the same, and I can observe the changing seasons – this time of year being particularly beautiful of course with Autumn colours, tinged with the first hints of frost. I count myself very lucky to have these and many other opportunties to be thankful early in the morning….

    1. You are indeed blessed! When we traveled to Scotland, my son arranged a Haggis Adventure tour that took us up to the Isle of Skye. That was the first time I heard of Dougie MacLean! Listening to Caledonia as we passed the verdant countryside was one of those quintessential ah ha moments. We were in Scotland in the first two weeks of September – every day there was sunshine! I see you are a big fan of Groucho Marx, too!!!

    1. Thank you!! I find that quotes have a way of bringing the past to the present. There are universal thoughts that seem to move through time. And every generation seems to find the same thought using different voices. It really is quite amazing….
