Photographers – Thank you!

The year 1826, the French inventor, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce – the dawn of photography and the genesis of a new art form.

Our fascination with photography has never diminished.  With digital, we have become absolute fanatics; the blogosphere has taken it to heights never before imagined.  This week, my quotes are from those artists who gave us a benchmark, a goal and a dream.

Ansel Adams was known for his black & white photographs of the American West.  A dedicated environmentalist, his love of our world is clearly evident in his work.  His photos continue to grace calendars, posters, and books.

“Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer, and often the supreme disappointment.” Ansel Adams

  1. At first I was very upset that I was going to have to switch to a digital camera because I was very attached to my other one. But now I just love it! 🙂 I think I’ve become a fanatic. 🙂

    1. You are too kind!!!! How did he do it!? I look at his photos and am amazed how sharp and clear they are? And the way he captured the essence of the old west, the vastness of territory, the freedom, and loneliness – all wrapped up nicely in landscape.

  2. A photo enhances anything written-=how we treasure them. I have attended four family gatherings where children were dividing the treasures and keepsakes left by their parents’ passing. What was the most important? The family pictures! What is the lament after a house fire? “We lost all our family pictures!” Now, with current technology, we can store precious photos forever. We are blest!

    1. That is so true. Photos pinpoint a time that vanishes the moment we have captured it. We can never bring back that exact moment, but we can re-live them again and again through our pictures. They document out time on earth and leave an image for those who come after.
