The Act of Singing…

Today, I attended the Vancouver Bach Choir annual Christmas event at the elegant Vancouver Orpheum Theatre.  Christmas with the Bach Choir  is always a splendid affair that generates a festive air of good will to all.  The Bach Choir is a family of several choirs that span the ages from pre-school to retirement.   Every so often, the audience joins with the choirs in singing a carol, which adds more breadth, even if there are some interesting harmonies.

At one point, the conductor said, “The act of singing is our praise for life.”   It was one of those epiphany moments – you know, the kind that make you stop and think.  We listen to people sing, but how often do we sing?  And if we don’t make a habit of singing, how do we give praise for living?  This week, I want to explore the act of singing.

“Life is a song – sing it.  Life is a game – play it. Life is a challenge – meet it.  Life is a dream – realize it. Life is a sacrifice – offer it.  Life is love – enjoy it.”
