The Gift of Peace

Peace

Peace allows us to pursue our purpose in life – to discover and explore what drives our creative and intellectual passions.  It is the one gift that we can give ourselves, irrespective of external circumstances.

Peace is the absence of anger:

“For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Peace is the absence of envy:

“Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others.  He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.”

Buddha

Peace is an open heart and a willingness to be a positive influence for good:

“The most valuable possession you can own is an open heart.  The most powerful weapon you can be is an instrument of peace.”

Carlos Santana

    1. Well said, indeed. I especially like “peace is not a static state.” We consider “peace” to be a noun, when it really is an action verb. Thank you so much for your visit!!!

  2. Peace is like smelling those beautiful flowers in your picture. We need to take a big deep breath and let its beauty and goodness enter us.

And when the flowers wilt and die….then we need to get a fresh bunch and take a new sniff. lol

    1. Thank you!! I have just taken a deep breath of your wisdom and I am ready to begin my day. You are right – we need to embrace and let beauty and goodness enter us, rather than constructing some kind of barrier.

  4. These are all great definitions, but how powerful it would be if we could all be an “instrument of peace”. Thanks Rebecca, have a wonderful New Year.
