Going on an Adventure

“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone. I should think so – in these parts!  We are plain, quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things!  Make you late for dinner.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

Adventure

There are many more rivers to explore and many miles to wander in this beautiful world.  We have not finished our river journeys. There is Julius Caesar’s Rubicon, the Mekong River, one of the great rivers of SE Asia, and the legendary Amazon River that carries more water than any other river in the world.

For now, I am taking a couple of weeks to share an adventure with my husband and son.   I am uncertain whether I will be able to access the internet on a regular basis, even though I am equipped with a new iPhone that I know very little about.  I confess that I have not attained the level of proficiency to access WordPress.  I am going to use this time to stretch my knowledge of technology.

We are all on a remarkable adventure, we call life.  Over the past months, I have come to realize that we may be on opposite sides of the world, yet we are travelling the same path.

Safe travels….and remember….

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door.  You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings

    1. Oh Maggie – I’m really an uneasy traveler. I’m already concerned about going on the plane. If we were meant to fly, we would have wings, wouldn’t we???? I’m packing my books, music and taking a deep breath when we lift off! 🙂

  3. Great advice from Tolkien, Rebecca with which to start your vacation, and voyage of adventure. May you be showered with sunshine, pardon the pun, hard to resist, but said with the best of intentions, and so as to start with a little chuckle. Enjoy, dear friend ! See you in a couple of weeks. 1. Thank you so much – I am one of the hesitant adventurers, very much like Bilbo Baggins. And yet…the world awaits us! And that gives me comfort.

  5. I started posting to WordPress using the iPhone before I did it directly from my computer. I must say it isn’t as intuitive, but it is possible to stay in touch that way. Just keep things simple, and you will be fine. We’ll be anxious to see what you are seeing, so don’t be shy about trying it out. Give it a whirl before you leave home, so you can do it in a relaxed atmosphere to get the hang of it. Bon Voyage! ;->

      1. I use a very simple camera! The Canon PowerShot SX 240 HS. It goes with me everywhere because I want to document the progress of life in the moments that slide by so quickly that my mind forgets the nuances. And when I need inspiration, I always look at the quotes by Ansel Adams.

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”

      2. Yes the Powershots are an excellent range – I have an older model. And combined with your creative skills & eye for colour, it’s a winning combination!

Plus now, of course, you’ll be able to take great pics on your phone too & post them on the go 🙂
