December 18, 2010 marked the date of the first LadyBudd post.  It was short, and simply welcomed one and all to my Photo Blog!

I have over 10,000 photos – some good, some not so good and some really not so good.  I enjoy photography, especially the automatically point and snap, because it captures the essence of a moment in time that we want to remember.  Memories are like old photography paper – they fade and become mellow with time.   I leave the artistry to others, more proficient in the details of the art form.  Welcome to my moments.  Hopefully this will inspire you to leave your footprint in the “pixel sands” of time.

I held my breath as I tentatively pressed that first publish button. I tossed the words into the air of the blogosphere unknown and wondered, with cautious expectation, where they would land.  Nearly ten years later, I will enter a new decade surrounded by a marvelous community of kindred spirits.

Year 2020!  Another unknown.  But just imagine…

Imagine all the conversations. Imagine all the adventures.  Imagine all the possibilities.  Imagine all the knowledge that will be exchanged.  The future waits for us.  But today, let us continue pressing the “publish button” and celebrate our compassionate and life-affirming community.

    1. We have travelled the world together and recognize the words of Alfred Lord Tennyson:

      “I am a part of all that I have met;
      Yet all experience is an arch wherethro’
      Gleams that untravell’d world whose margin fades
      For ever and forever when I move.
      How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
      To rust unburnish’d, not to shine in use!
      As tho’ to breathe were life!”

    1. I love the idea of “2020” – it reminds me of a check-up for my eyes. Every one wants to have 2020 vision – and with a little help from optical lens we are able to achieve clarity. Friends are my optical lens, adding depth to my understanding. I have learned so much over the past 9, almost 10 years because of being within a compassionate and knowledgeable blogging community. So here’s to a new year, new decade and many more adventures. Hugs coming to you and Carina. Celebrating our friendship.

    1. I remember the night that that was published. Sarah, my sister, and Frances my mother were in my kitchen with me having tea. It was in the middle of Christmas celebrations and I wanted to go into a new decade with something new and different. It has been an amazing adventure – and now you are and I entering a new decade together. Fun times!!!

      2. A wonderful question – I think that I will begin a new season of Tea Toast & Trivia podcast. Podcasting and podcasts have experienced exponential growth. I am on Anchor, which has just been purchased by Spotify. The latest statistics (based on the US) indicate 51% of the US population has listened to a podcast. It appears that podcasting is in its early stages. What I have found is that having short conversations gives new insight because I have viewed the subject through the lens of someone who has more information on that particular subject than I do. It is going back to an audio form of learning. I enjoy listening to the podcasts from BBC and Canada’s CBC. I’m now in the planning stages for Season 2 Episode 1 – stay tuned.

  6. I just looked at this again this morning and enjoyed the video that you shared. I loved the little ducks in the water and the beautiful autumn leaves. I have enjoyed your past entries very much and look forward to a new decade of your encouraging messages. I wish you joy as you discover new sites to photograph and new thoughts to share with us. Thank you for encouraging me on my journey of discovery.

  8. This a delightful memory of the last decade. Your photographs and posts have been inspiring and now on to a NEW DECADE. What wonders lie ahead of us, we can only imagine! It will be good to live this next 10 years together and I expect many wonderful times and the making of new memories. I love your colorful and beautiful video–the little ducks and the beautiful colorful autumn leaves. Thank you for sharing.

  12. A decade and multiple blogs – well done – i’m almost there I think I started in 2011 – certainly got lots of ideas and inspiration – but having ticked over the last couple of years – I think I am ready to go- where do you get your blogging energy from – u must get tired occasionally?

    1. Over coffee one morning at my local coffee shop, I was reading the news and had epiphany. I looked across the table to my husband and said, “I think I can make better news than this.” As I go into 2020 and into my 65th year, I realize we have the potential of a global reach, something that we never imagined in those heady days of the late 60’s and early 70’s when I wore granny glasses and a floppy hat. The possibility of sharing stories/ideas/philosophy and exploring places I will never see through the eyes of another, has more relevance to me than listening to talking heads, no matter how brilliant they are. Not that I don’t keep up with the news, but I think its essential that we keep focused on our personal narratives. Your blog takes me to your world, thousands of miles away. By the way, I’ve started a podcast and am learning to podcast from a distance, which has been a great learning curve when it comes to audio clarity. So if you ever want to go into the podcasting from a distance unknown, let me know. Always, always an adventure.
