Remember BC Place? There is a new creation underway. Here is my first update on the project. It has the look of a spaceship to me, with tentacles reaching to the sky. Stay tuned – more to come.
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” Dolly Parton
This Christmas, I received a parcel from a dear friend who lives on the other side of the continent. As I opened the package, JOY dropped into my hand. The Christmas ornament reminded me that the greatest gift of the season is joy. May you all experience joy in full measure as we enter a new decade.
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. ~Dr Seuss
Whenever I think of Christmas, I remember Whoville and the dog. The Grinch’s heart grew that day, but I was always amazed by the willing and accommodating spirit of the Grinch’s dog. The dog always believed in the Grinch. In my humble opinion, the dog had the biggest heart of all!
Lady Caroline Lamb was a British aristocrat and a novelist. Her exploits were legendary, even for our time. Her husband was the 2nd Viscount Melbourne, the Prime Minister, but she is best known for her scandalous affair with Lord Byron in 1812. She said Lord Byron was “mad, bad, and dangerous to know.” She never took her own advice. But there was so much more to her life, so I will be coming back to Lady Caroline Lamb in future blogs. Stay tuned.
“Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in.”
Amy Lowell
Amy Lowell is a kindred spirit. She was born in 1874, into a well-known and respectable family. She had two brothers: Percival Lowell, who became a prominent astronomer, and Abbott Lawrence Lowell, who ended up as a Harvard president. College was a forbidden fruit – no place for a woman. Not to be thwarted, she turned to books. In fact, she was an obsessive book collector; hence a kindred spirit. Can you imagine what she would do
with a Kobo, Kindle etc? Amy Lowell’s life is amazing, full of creativity, poetry and inspiration. What better quote to start my photo blog. Just this once – I have modified the pronouns.
Art is the desire of a woman to express herself, to record the reactions of her personality to the world she lives in!
