Florists – This post is for you!

There will come a time when the flowers will fall asleep in the snow.  My walks will become more brisk and I will have a warm cloak and scarf to ward off the chill.   The leaves will cushion the walkways even as the earth accepts the coldness.

Florists make our world beautiful all year around.   They help celebrate our births, weddings, anniversaries, Valentine’s days, and deaths.  When we cannot find the words to say, they offer a thought that fills the moment.

A big thank you to those remarkable florists who give us sunshine and warmth all year around.

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.”
Luther Burbank, 1849-1926 (American botanist, horticulturist and pioneer in agricultural science.)

A Thought Provoking Blog Award

On August 17, 2012, LadyBudd received a nomination for the prestigious A Thought Provoking Blog Award by Lizzie Joy and her life-affirming blog, Lizzie Joy’s Photo Suite.  I am honoured to accept the nomination, and even more excited to connect with a fellow blogger who shares my interest in photography. Lizzie Joy celebrates life through artistic expression.  Her photographs capture extraordinary moments that resonate in the hearts and minds of her readers.   Discover the excitement of shared experiences through Lizzie Joy’s Photo Suite blog. Lizzie Joy is on an adventure – and she welcomes kindred spirits along the journey.

Award recipients are requested to:

1)      Thank the person who nominated you and write a blog about it.

2)      Share 7 things about yourself.

3)      Pass the award on to 5 blogs you enjoy.

4)      Post the image on your blog.

The credit goes to Lizzie Joy’s Photo Suite.   I am honoured to have bloggers like Lizzie Joy stop by for a visit.  To me, blogging is about sharing thoughts, knowledge and experiences.  We tell the story of our generation, and link our global village in ways never before imagined.

I’m relatively new to WordPress – my launch was May 1, 2012.  I love art, music, history and travel.  But most of all, I love connecting with others and hearing their stories.  I’m committed to the environment – I walk everywhere and recycle everything I can.  I love reading, dancing and have taken up Italian language studies. We live complicated lives that are exceptional and full of adventures. John Ruskin (1819-1900) said, “What we think or what we know, or what we believe in is, in the end, of little consequence.  The only consequence is what we do.”

Accepting this award has given me the opportunity to thank bloggers for their efforts in creating remarkable blogs. My nominees are, in random order:

Malinka’s Studio  I love the tag line:  A crazy girl living in a small studio, doing lots of things…

Attila Ovari  Attila shares her adventures so that you will be inspired to live your life with passion.

Everlasting Love Of Flowers A joyful exploration into the beauty of flowers.

Cristi M. His thought provoking photos take readers for a tour around the world!

History of the Ancient World  A blog that brings history alive.

Blogging celebrates connections.  I look forward to the shared journey…

Embracing life and open to possibilities,

Rebecca aka Clanmother

Un-Birthdays are the best!

“There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents, and only one for birthday presents, you know.”
Lewis Carroll

They say that when you have a birthday, you start your life anew.  Lewis Carroll, who brought us Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, reminds us that there are another 364 days to celebrate a new beginning.  And that’s the best un-birthday present of all!!

Canada Day July 1, 2012

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

The Loonie – Happy Birthday

A very happy birthday to our iconic Canadian Loonie!   June 30, 1987, the government replaced the one dollar paper bill with a shiny, gold-coloured, 11 sided coin.  It was a hit with everyone:  taxpayers because it was predicted to save them  $175- $250 million over 20 years, the vending-machine operators who envisioned higher profits and tourists who would take one home as a souvenir.

It seems that recently the Loonie was put on a diet. The new 2012 Loonie weighs 6.27 grams, compared with the seven-gram 1987 Loonie.   Looking forward to the next 25 years…

Cinco de Mayo

Today is Cinco de Mayo. There will be dancing in the streets, parades and banners, delicious and spicy foods. So today I celebrate by remembering the warmth of a Mexican vacation where turquoise waters, vibrant flowers and exotic drinks came together. And the butterflies – the beautiful, beautiful butterflies…
