Our Measurement

Standard

Remember – the sky is the limit.  Go for it….

“God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement.”
Marcus Garvey

Forget and Create

Standard

Artists have a different perspective on focus.  We are programmed to remember what we learned…perhaps there are times when forgetfulness helps our focus.

“There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted.”
Henri Matisse

One Step at a Time

Standard

Remember – you can only take one step at a time, no matter how fast you are running.

“It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.”

Sir Winston Churchill

Rear-View Mirror

Standard

I have always wondered why I continue to look backward when it is so much easier to look forward.

“Always focus on the front windshield and not the rear-view mirror.”
Colin Powell

Imagine

Standard

The other day, I put on my glasses and knew that I needed a new prescription. Life was just a little on the fuzzy side.

I think imagination works the same way.  There is a slight, yet noticeable lack of clarity – until we embrace the possibilities offered by our hopes and dreams.

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”
Mark Twain

Anger & Answers

Standard

Sometimes it’s okay to be angry – at injustice, hunger, poverty and discrimination.   These are universal struggles that require the entire global community to focus on seeking answers, rather than assessing blame.

It starts with me.  Today, I will join the community and focus my energies on solutions.

“It is wise to direct your anger towards problems – not people; to focus your energies on answers – not excuses.”
William Arthur Ward
